School Life

A guide to everyday life at ISGR. School life at ISGR is about much more than lessons. From attendance and communication to student wellbeing and practical routines, this page brings together the information parents use most throughout the school year.

School Day

Every school day is carefully planned to support learning, wellbeing and a strong sense of community. Students follow a structured timetable with lessons, breaks and lunch throughout the day. Families are encouraged to ensure students arrive on time each morning, as punctuality helps create a positive start to the day.

Throughout the school year, parents and guardians are invited to student-led Development Talks and receive regular progress reports.

School hours vary depending on the programme and grade level.

PYP: 08:30–14:30 (doors open at 08:20).

MYP: Lessons run on a rolling timetable between approximately 08:00 and 16:00. Students receive an individual timetable with their lesson schedule.

Attendance

Regular attendance is an important part of student success. If your child is absent due to illness, arrives late or has a medical appointment, this should be reported through SchoolSoft before 07:45.

Leave during term time is only granted in exceptional circumstances and must be requested in advance in accordance with the school’s Leave of Absence Policy.

Communication

Open communication between school and home is an important part of every student’s learning journey.

SchoolSoft is used for curriculum information for LgrP and LgrM, learning portfolios, progress reports, school announcements and communication with teachers.

SchoolSoft is used for attendance, reporting absence and maintaining parent and guardian contact information.

Please make sure your contact details are always up to date so the school can reach you if needed.

Health & Wellbeing

Student wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do. Our Student Support Team works together to promote students’ physical, emotional and academic wellbeing.

The team includes the school nurse, counsellor, learning support staff and school leadership. Students receive health checks and vaccinations in accordance with Swedish national guidelines, and families can contact the team whenever additional support is needed.

School Meals

All students are provided with a nutritious school lunch each day. Families are asked to inform the school of any dietary requirements or allergies before their child starts. Please note that food allergies requiring special meals must be supported by a medical certificate in accordance with the City of Gothenburg’s guidelines.

You can find the form here.

Safety

Providing a safe learning environment is one of our highest priorities. Throughout the school year students take part in regular fire drills and emergency exercises to ensure they know how to respond in different situations.

If a student becomes ill or is injured during the school day, parents or guardians will be contacted using the information stored in SchoolSoft. Students are insured through their local municipality while attending ISGR.

Getting to School

ISGR is easily accessible by public transport, car and bicycle. Students who are eligible receive public transport cards through their municipality after registration in Sweden. Students cycling to school are required to wear a helmet and park their bicycles in the designated areas.
