Accreditation & Networks

ISGR holds accreditations from several national and international organizations. These accreditations confirm that we meet high standards in teaching, leadership, and student well-being. They also reflect our strong commitment to quality education and continuous improvement.

Families moving to Gothenburg can feel confident that their children will receive a consistent, high-quality education that is recognized around the world.

International Baccalaureate (IB)

ISGR is an authorized IB World School, offering the Primary Years Programme (PYP) since 2003 and the Middle Years Programme (MYP) since 2000.

Being part of the IB community means that our teaching follows a well-established global framework, focused on developing inquiring, caring, and knowledgeable young people who are prepared for a rapidly changing world.

What makes IB special at ISGR:

  • Our students are part of a global network of schools recognized by universities worldwide.

  • The IB programmes support not just academic growth, but also social and emotional development.

  • Students build essential skills like research, critical thinking, communication, and time management.

  • Our teachers have access to high-quality training, materials, and global professional support.

Maintaining IB accreditation is an ongoing process. Every five years, we carry out a full self-study and are reviewed to ensure we continue to meet IB’s high standards in teaching, leadership, and school culture.

Council of International Schools (CIS)

Since 2008, ISGR has been accredited by the Council of International Schools (CIS) — a global organization that ensures high standards in all areas of school life.

This accreditation confirms that we are a school focused not only on academic achievement, but also on student well-being, ethical leadership, and global citizenship.

Key features of CIS accreditation:

    • It’s based on internationally benchmarked standards in leadership, teaching, and student care.

    • Schools are reviewed through both internal reflection and external peer visits.

    • We are encouraged to plan strategically and improve continuously.

    • A strong emphasis is placed on preparing students to make a positive impact in the world.

CIS accreditation also helps us attract experienced international staff, build trust with families, and ease student transitions to universities and schools around the world.

Swedish National Accreditation

ISGR operates under the supervision of two national authorities in Sweden:

  • Skolverket (Swedish National Agency for Education) ensures all students have access to high-quality and equitable education. It sets national curricula and provides training and support for teachers.
  • Skolinspektionen (Swedish Schools Inspectorate) oversees school safety and quality. It has authorized ISGR to teach up to 50% in English in our Swedish Section.

Together, these authorities make sure that our school meets all legal and educational requirements in Sweden.

Our Networks

ISGR also belongs to two important networks that connect us with other international schools and help us grow as a community of educators and learners.

The Association of Swedish IB Schools (ASIB)

ISGR is a proud member of ASIB, which links IB schools across Sweden.

    • Our staff participate in annual conferences and training events, and ISGR is represented on the ASIB board.

    • It provides opportunities for collaboration, professional growth, and shared learning.

    • The network maintains close contact with the International Baccalaureate Organization.

The Nordic Network of International Schools (NNIS)

As a founding member of NNIS, we’re part of a vibrant community of English-speaking international schools across the Nordic and Baltic regions.

    • The aim is to build strong relationships and share best practices that benefit student learning.

    • The network encourages collaboration, innovation, and professional development.
