Exploring Children’s Rights: Our Tree of Rights

Last week, ISGR students explored the work of the United Nations and learned about the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC).

As part of the activity, students reflected on the rights every child should have and discussed which they consider most important. They then brought their thoughts together in a collaborative creation: a Tree of Rights.

Every Child Has Rights

The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child establishes the fundamental rights that belong to every child, regardless of background, circumstances or where they live.

By exploring the Convention, students had the opportunity to learn more about their rights, consider why they matter and reflect on the importance of ensuring that every child’s rights are respected.

Giving Students a Voice

The Tree of Rights represents more than a creative classroom activity. It gives students an opportunity to express their perspectives, listen to one another and reflect on issues that affect children around the world.

A wonderful reminder that every child matters, every child has rights, and every child’s voice deserves to be heard.
