A Week to Remember – Year 8 LgrM on Work Experience at the Fire & Rescue Service

During week 46, our Year 8 students in LgrM completed their PRAO, and three of our students had the unique opportunity to spend the week with the Fire & Rescue Service. Their experience was nothing short of extraordinary.

Throughout the week, they took part in a wide range of hands-on training activities: joining rescue boat missions, practising water lifesaving, trying different methods of extinguishing fires, and experiencing simulated smoke-diving. They even got to slide down one of Sweden’s longest fire poles, complete physical tests, put on full firefighting gear, work with hoses, ride along in the fire truck, and participate in realistic emergency exercises. On the final day, they completed a challenging test used by real firefighters.

Eight students from different schools shared this exciting programme, gaining new skills and learning to collaborate in a truly unique environment.

Our ISGR students represented the school with maturity, teamwork, and enthusiasm. The firefighters leading the programme had prepared an impressive and thoughtful plan, and they continuously checked in with the students to ensure everyone felt safe, supported, and confident in the activities.

We are proud of our students for their commitment throughout the week – and grateful to the Fire & Rescue Service for providing such a meaningful and memorable PRAO experience.
