International Exchange: G.S Kanazi in Rwanda with Planta Panta

Ten of our students had the opportunity to visit G.S Kanazi in Rwanda, a partnership born last year with a preparatory visit in November by our teachers. In February, the bond was further strengthened with the student/teacher trip that took place over the course of nine days.

Nine packed days that included 5 days at G.S. Kanazi, where the students learnt to interact with people from different cultural backgrounds, each student presented their country and they all got to learn from each other. The main focus for this part of the visit was to create good relationships, treat everyone the same, and teach about sustainable development.

Football games were played, food was shared and new relationships were created based on shared experiences.

Sustainable development is something that Planta Panta closely works with. Planta Panta has its roots in Gothenburg, it is an organisation that ISGR has close links with through both helping hands day, where money is collected and donated to the organization to plant trees in Uganda and Rwanda. Our students got the opportunity to plant one of those trees during their visit. Something that many took with them as a meaningful experience.

In order to pay homage to the history of Rwanda the students visited the genocide museum, a place full of tragic memories. Poignant stories of loss and eventually hope. An important part of history that enabled the students to better understand the country that they had visited.

An unforgettable experience for both students and staff, memories that will last a lifetime.
