LGRP – Primary Years in the Swedish National Section

LGRP refers to the Swedish National Section at ISGR for students in Preschool Class through Grade 6. “LGR” stands for the national curriculum (Läroplan för grundskolan), and “P” indicates the primary years. This section follows the Swedish national curriculum (Lgr22), with up to 50% of instruction in English thanks to special authorization from the Swedish National Agency for Education.

Located at our Guldheden Campus, LGRP offers a unique blend of Swedish education and international perspective. Students benefit from cross-section collaboration, shared spaces with the International Section, and daily opportunities to build both Swedish and English language skills.

How we teach

Our teachers work to design lessons so that they can meet all students where they are and further develop their knowledge and skills. We work with clear learning objectives, structure, and continuous follow-up. Student participation and influence are an important part of our work. Our teachers have high expectations of the students, and with a curious approach, they strive to develop teaching to enable students to reach their goals. We have a high degree of qualified teachers. Collaboration and cooperation are important guiding principles in our work and are evident in that we are often more than one teacher in the classroom.

How we track progress

Our aim is to support each and every child on their own individual path of learning, in the way that is right for them. Students are closely monitored through daily observation, formative assessments and goal setting.

Our teachers have a close collaboration with the student support team, and together we monitor the students’ progress and development. The student support team contributes knowledge and expertise to the teaching teams for the development of teaching and the analysis of its results. They provide support for teachers, students, and guardians.

How we build community

All staff work to ensure that the students feel safe at school. To create the conditions for this, we use the “Responsive classroom”. A method that helps us work systematically to create a good climate of cooperation in our classes. During breaks, there are Social Leaders who are tasked with organizing and offering games during breaks. Information and communication takes place in our web-based system called Schoolsoft. There, you as a guardian can take part in what is happening at school and report absences. We emphasize the importance of good school-home cooperation and thereby be able to develop each student.

How we develop as international learners

With over 60 nationalities under one roof, our vibrant community celebrates both shared experiences and unique perspectives every day.  This happens through classroom activities, outings around the city and collaborations outside of as well as within the school. We believe that learning from our differences is our greatest strength, fostering a rich environment where everyone thrives. At ISGR, a shared vision guides us as we learn together for the future.

The school shall inspire students with a passion for lifelong learning, where respect for human rights and democratic values forms the foundation.
