ISGR inaugurates new facilities – capacity for 1,350 students in Gothenburg

At the start of the school year, ISGR’s new extended facilities were ready to welcome students – the result of a construction project that began in March 2023. On September 23, the new buildings were officially inaugurated at Campus Guldheden.

With the expansion, ISGR – the International School of the Gothenburg Region – increases its capacity by around 275 seats, now offering places for a total of 1,350 students from preschool class to Grade 9.

The new facilities include 15 classrooms, a fully equipped sports hall, custom-built music rooms, a state-of-the-art kitchen, dining hall, and other specialized spaces designed to strengthen the learning environment. This investment ensures that even more students have access to a modern, purpose-built international learning environment.

“This is an important milestone for ISGR. With the new facilities, we can meet the growing demand for international school places while creating even better conditions for learning and development for all our students, regardless of curriculum,” says Annika Simonsson Bergqvist, CEO and Head of School at ISGR.

The expansion also plays a role in strengthening the attractiveness of the Gothenburg region. As more international companies establish themselves here, access to high-quality education becomes a decisive factor in attracting and retaining global talent.

“For companies seeking to recruit international employees, a high-quality international school is a key factor. With these new facilities, more families can feel secure in choosing to relocate to Gothenburg,” says Eva Ternegren, Chair of the ISGR Board.

The inauguration was made extra special by a beautiful performance from the PYP3 choir, whose voices filled the new restaurant and gave the celebration a warm and festive atmosphere.

The project was designed by White Arkitekter, built by Tuve Bygg (now Hedin Construction), and managed by the City of Gothenburg’s Property Management Department.
